Michelle Wolf

Michelle Wolf remembers the Orange County of old. “There were still orange trees when I was growing up,” Wolf said wistfully. Wolf, now living in Los Angeles and the mother of a disabled son who receives aid through the In-Home Support Services Program, was more pleased with another of the county’s transformations. “Now it’s pretty diverse. It’s not just white sunbabies hanging out at the beach.” Read more about Wolf below.

Q. What music have you listened to today?
A. In the morning with my son, I listened to camp songs, because he just got back from two weeks at camp.

Q. What’s your favorite word?
A. Chrysalis.

Q. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A. First I was going to be a magician. Then I was going to be an international business woman, then a journalist.

Q. What is your favorite cocktail?
A. I don’t drink a lot of cocktails, but once in a while I’ll have a Bloody Mary.

Q. What is your greatest extravagance?
A. Dark chocolate.

Q. What is your favorite thing about Los Angeles?
A. I like that it’s so dynamic, and how neighborhoods and communities are always changing.

Q. What is the last thing that inspired you?
A. President Obama’s election. Our whole family were big fans.

Q. What is your fondest childhood memory?
A. A lot of happy days spent at Disneyland.

Q. What is the best advice you have ever received?
A. From my mom, a blessed memory: “To make a friend, you have to be a friend.”

Q. What promise do you make to yourself that you break the most often?
A. That I’m going to exercise today.

Q. Who is the one person living or dead that you’d most love to meet?
A. Gandhi.
