Wonder Woman and the Gravity Monster

by Tony Barnstone

Miss Wonder Woman, Amazon, is sore
from twenty thousand crunches every night,
but when she fought the Mars Men and she tore
her costume she knew to get her abs tight
she’d have to sacrifice.  She wonders when
her breasts began to point down to the street,
when she began to miss the leering men
she used to WHAMMO! knock right off their feet.
She sucks her belly in and clasps her belt,
then on an impulse loops her lasso round
her neck and asks, “What do I want?”  “To melt
with fat, give up the fight, to walk the ground
a friend of gravity, embrace that pull.”
She wonders, wouldn’t that be wonderful?
