Emily Bazar

Emily Bazar is a senior writer for the California HealthCare Foundation Center for Health Reporting, where she covers stories about health reform, children’s health, Medicare and limitations in mental health care. Prior to moderating a panel on teen pregnancy, Bazar sat down for our In The Green Room Q&A.

Q. What is the last habit you tried to kick?
A. I eat too many sweets.

Q. What surprises you most about your life right now?
A. (Laughing) Late 30s, not married, no kids.

Q. What do you consider to be the greatest simple pleasure?
A. Reading.

Q. Where would we find you at 10 a.m. on a typical Saturday?
A. Sleeping in.

Q. What do you do to clear your mind?
A. Exercise.

Q. What do you wish you had the nerve to do?
A. I’ve done things that I had wished I had the nerve to do. I’ve gone backpacking by myself and traveled to foreign countries by myself. I’ve done most of what I’ve wanted to do and will continue to do so.

Q. What profession would you like to practice in your next life?
A. I’d like to be an archaeologist.

Q. If you could take only one more journey, where would you go?
A. Vietnam.

Q. What is your most prized material possession?
A. Persian rugs.
