Immigrants, Southern California Needs You

Long-time immigration hotbed California is on its way to becoming a home-grown state. In “How Will L.A. Face Its Post-Immigrant Future?”, sociologist Richard Mora, demographer Dowell Myers, and urban theorist Joel Kotkin ask whether a fall in immigration to Los Angeles is a good thing—or if it means we’re going to be living in a less dynamic city and state.

In the OC Register, Kotkin’s opening gambit argues that this demographic shift will only diminish the power and promise of the California Dream.
