Blue Star Families Deputy Director Megan Glynn

A Military Wife’s Surprise: Moving Back Home

Megan Glynn, a former Air Spouse of the Year, is deputy director of Blue Star Families, an organization that provides support to military families. Before participating in a panel on what war does to families, she talked Facebook, St. Patrick’s Day, and Germany in the Zócalo green room.

Q:

What surprises you most about your life right now?

A:

That I’m back home, living where I was raised, given that I married into the military.

Q:

What social media website do you spend the most time on?

A:

Facebook.

Q:

You were a member of the UCLA soccer team; when did you last play?

A:

Oh goodness. Last spring, right before I got pregnant with my last one.

Q:

What do you wake up to?

A:

My alarm.

Q:

What’s your guilty TV-watching pleasure?

A:

The Amazing Race. I don’t get much time on TV…

Q:

What’s your favorite condiment?

A:

Anything spicy.

Q:

Where do you go to be alone?

A:

Running.

Q:

What’s your favorite holiday?

A:

I would say it’s a tie between St. Patrick’s Day and the Fourth of July. Our first son happened to be born on St. Patrick’s Day, but we were living in Korea. He’s convinced that holiday is all for him, which is really fun now.

Q:

If you didn’t live in the U.S., what country would you want to live in?

A:

Germany. No doubt.

Q:

What’s your favorite German food?

A:

Wine?
