7th Street Wardlow Road

A Veteran and a Note-Taker

Booker Adams

I was just shopping for groceries. Usually I’ll take the train to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Long Beach. I didn’t serve in any of the wars; I was stationed in California, where I worked in a Navy hospital and as a field medic for the Marines.

I carry notebook paper on my ride because I’ll write about different things I’ve seen, or what I’ve done that day.

I usually listen to the radio on the bus, or read magazines or books. You can even bring a DVD player if you want—anything to keep your mind off the road.
