Flowers make me think of El Salvador

Angela Rodriguez

Cleaning homes is a very exhausting work. Sometimes my back hurts, so it’s nice to sit down on the bus and rest.

Every week I gift myself flowers. My favorites are yellow roses. I feel happiness when I have flowers to fill my house. Flowers make me think of El Salvador and my children.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 26 years. I miss my four children. I left them behind in El Salvador. I try to visit them as much as possible, but I would never go back to live there—it’s very dangerous. I wish I could bring my children here to live with me.
