Crenshaw Boulevard Magnolia Avenue

I Thank God I Became a U.S. Citizen

Roberto Campos

It’s nice to ride the bus when it’s this hot. I enjoy the air conditioning. It cools you down.

I recently retired. I’m hoping I can travel someday. I always had to work hard to support my family—travel is something I never got to do.

I hope to go back and visit El Salvador someday, but I don’t think I’d feel safe there. I don’t have family there anymore and to be honest, I don’t even miss anything about it. I’m happy and grateful for my life here. I feel at home in Los Angeles and I thank God I became a U.S. citizen.
