This is My First Time in California and It’s a Culture Shock!

Dylan Brown

I’m originally from Louisiana. I came to L.A. for an internship. This is my first time in California and it’s definitely been a culture shock.

When I’m on the bus, I people watch. The diversity here is definitely new for me. I’m Japanese-American, and I never met anyone with the same ethnicity as me in the South. There are so many people like me here. I feel like I have an instant connection with them.

I’m on my way home to Little Tokyo. The neighborhood is great. The ramen is insane! That’s probably what I’m having for dinner tonight—that and happy hour.
