Mark Dowie makes the erroneous claim that John Muir expelled the Indians from Yosemite. The truth is that the Yosemite Indians were evicted by the Mariposa Battalion in the early 1850's as a result of conflict between Indians and gold miners. It had nothing to do with the establishment of Yosemite National Park. John Muir arrived in Yosemite and California in 1868, long after the Indians had been removed. Mr. Dowie obviously has some political agenda to pursue, because he doesn't seem interested in historical accuracy.
