Jose Luis Gutierrez is co-director for the Transnational Affairs of the National Alliance of Latin-Americans and Caribbean Communities. Previously, he served as Director of the Office of New Americans Policy and Advocacy for the governor of Illinois. Gutierrez joined Zócalo to chat about immigrant integration, and before going on stage he told us a little more about himself.

A. Some Cuban music, I’m not sure what, on NPR.

A. Responsibility.

A. Home.

Q. What is your greatest extravagance?

A. Going to the spa.

Q. If you could take only one more journey, where would you go?

A. Back to the place where I was born, in Mexico, in the very poor countryside.

A. Being with my dog.
