I Was a ‘Vogue’ Intern. A flood of memories rushed back to Elaine Choi when she heard that Condé Nast recently closed its internship program . While not all the memories were good—getting a call from her boss at 11 pm and driving to the office, begging the post office to stay open an extra two hours, and tracking down a male model for Rihanna—Choi looks back fondly on her experience as a Vogue intern. After the never-ending criticism and completing near-impossible tasks, she feels like she can do anything.

 

Is That An Art Exhibition In Your Ear? At a typical art show, most people go to grab wine, chat with friends, and pretend to look at the art. But to view artist Joe Sola’s exhibition meant getting up close and personal—and a little uncomfortable.  That’s because it’s in gallerist Tif Sigfrids’ ear.

 

Drinks With … Donna Bojarsky. Donna Bojarsky has spent her career thinking about why people don’t give back to Los Angeles. Over a faro salad with Zócalo managing editor Sarah Rothbard, Bojarsky talked about L.A.’s civic deficit. “We have to seduce people into a love of Los Angeles that will be meaningful and turn into some sort of participation and leadership,” Bojarsky said.

 

Go Ahead: Rename an L.A. Street. Sportscaster Vin Scully might have rejected the idea of naming a street near Dodger Stadium in his honor, but we thought we’d give other Angelenos a shot at the naming game. So we asked:  If you could rename any street in L.A., which would you choose—and why?
