Jane Canning is an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer currently based in Eugene, Oregon.
For her Zócalo Sketchbook, Canning serves up six new breakfast plates, continuing her “Breakfast One Inch High” series. She began the project in 2015 and has since created more than 2,200 paintings, with each plate measuring only 1 inch in diameter. Think of it as visiting a tiny diner with a menu that’s constantly changing. And as each dish is infinitesimal, one need not feel bad about chasing that lox bagel and avocado toast with a jelly-filled maple bar.
