Am sea deep and seaweed thick tangled. Am
weighted blanket, hide.   Am hush of woods, not

a needle stirred. Am crack of oak, fallen.

In the driveway, gravel screams passage.
scissor of light. Of step-heavy steel and—

Am fogged in. Am erasure. Am red fox
blazing sentence into the field of my mind.

Cement steps. He is fury-drawled, unfurled mind.
A fiery planet orbiting. Deep

In the field, late apples let go. Face rot.
Peacock feathers see with a thousand eyes.

Am trapdoor. Am a dark mouth full of stop.
At dawn, the stars are still yelling far off—
