As Long As There’s Eggs

Health Policy Expert Shannon Brownlee Takes Questions in the Green Room

Shannon Brownlee is the acting director of the health policy program at the New America Foundation. Before visiting Zócalo to give a talk on how patients can take control of their health, she took questions in our Green Room.

Q. What’s your favorite movie?
A. The Lives of Others.

Q. What do you eat for breakfast?
A. Eggs. Always eggs. The preparation doesn’t matter as long as there’s eggs.

Q. What’s your favorite thing about Washington?
A. The trees.

Q. What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday afternoon?
A. Gardening.

Q. What was the best decision you ever made?
A. Marrying my husband.

Q. Who was your childhood role model?
A. Eugenie Clark, a shark biologist.

Q. What music did you listen to today?
A. Oh, I listened to something really beautiful today. I listened to Joan Baez and to an opera singer that I don’t know the name of, and to Beethoven.

Q. What is your favorite spot to read in?
A. The couch in the corner.

Q. What is your primary source of news?
A. The Washington Post and The New York Times. Hard copy if I can do it, online if I’m in a hurry.

Q. What talent do you wish you had?
A. I wish I could sing really beautifully.
