Meet Our Mascot

Zókie, the Zócalo Giraffe

Zókie serves as Zócalo’s official mascot and as a symbol of wide-ranging intellectual curiosity in an era of narrow thinking. Her distinctive gaze embodies the Enlightenment roots of the word “bewilderment”—originally meaning “lured into the wilds.” Born on the African savanna, she now lives in Los Angeles and in the hearts of those who stick their necks out to see the forest above the trees.
