Alexandra Lockwood is a multimedia illustrator based in New York City. She is currently attending the School of Visual Arts, where she is studying with Zócalo Sketchbook alum Yuko Shimizu.
In her lively graphic work for Zócalo, Lockwood brings us a variety of roller skates, rollerblades, and skateboards. These altogether sprightly roller-conveyances are perhaps the ideal illustrations for January 2021: They symbolize optimistic forward momentum, they allow for fun that can be had at a safe distance, and they carry the potential for a few more bruises—along with the reminder to keep getting up again. Here’s to a happy new year!
