I’ve been commuting on my bike and Metro for 12 years. I didn’t like the aggravation of driving. It’s easier to let the bus driver do all the worrying. But more importantly, you get to look at the scenery. We have to deal with so much stimulus every day. To be able to just turn it off and still get to where you need to go? That’s a great feeling. That’s priceless.
I talked to one young lady I met on the bus about the attitude of her generation. Her whole premise was that older people are trying to control young people, and they don’t want to be controlled. I said, we’re just trying to give you a little bit of insight into our experiences. You’re going to do what you want to do, and you’re going to experience what you have to experience. We’re just trying to help you grow faster.
