I’ve been commuting to downtown from El Monte since 1985. I read romance novels on my kindle. I was 17 when my family came here from Durango, Mexico. I met my husband in college, but he is from Thailand. We both had to leave our countries to meet here. We fell in love and got married. It was meant to be. We’re really happy together. He does all the cooking at home—the best Thai food in L.A. is at my house.
