I write letters to the people I love

Sam Dormson

I’m heading to my son’s graduation at El Camino College. I’m really happy for him. We’ll be celebrating later with all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ.

I take the train all the time. I like being around people. It’s fun. Riding Metro allows me to relax and get my work done. I write fiction—murder mysteries, Sherlock Holmes stuff.

I also carry a book to write letters to people I love. My son makes fun of me because I put stamps on letters and put them in the mailbox. He asks me: “Dad, what’s a mailbox?” Just to tease me. I write to my sister and my mom about my life experiences. My mom loves to write letters to me, too. We’re like that.
